Services

Erik Schlake offers services in murals, woodgraining, marbling and faux.

In all his projects, Erik uses professional grade products and has received training in order to use proprietary products not available to the general public.

“Keeping up with new paint technologies and new products gives me a very broad range of professional products in order to achieve a wide variety of finishes. There is no product line that can do it all, and I like having a full spectrum of paints and plasters to choose from to help me meet the client’s needs”

Murals

Mural work can be done in both interior and exterior applications. Interior murals can also be done on canvas, and installed on site. This technique, called marouflage, has been around for centuries, and is a durable process that allows the artist to employ additional techniques that would not be practical onsite, as well as less interruptions for the client. Woodgraining and marble

Faux bois (from the French for false wood) refers to the artistic imitation of wood or wood grains in various media. The craft has roots in the Renaissance with trompe-l’œil.

Woodgraining can be achieved through a variety of techniques, using paints, glazes and techniques that have been used for hundreds of years. Very rarely are gel stains used, as they have a tendency to fade in exterior applications. Using traditional techniques, the look of wood can be achieved in ways that are realistic and true to the long history of the art form.

Imitation marble has similar roots to faux bois, and is used on columns, backsplashes, walls, niches and other areas where the look of natural stone is wanted, but real stone isn’t practical. Check out out gallery of woodgrain here

Faux

Faux is a “catchall” term to describe everything from color glazing to plaster finishes. We are trained in most professional systems that provide high end and durable finishes.
